This incredible organisation, takes children off the streets in Arusha, Tanzania, and provides them with an education, and more importantly a future, where they determine how they’re going to change from a life of addiction to realising their dreams. Run by a very pragmatic Dutch businessman, the boys at the centre are taught vocational skills along with school lessons, and are given guidance and support to help set themselves up in employment and housing.

The children’s excitement was palpable at the remote school we visited through Big brother mouse in Laos. Many Lao children have never seen a book at all, and those that have normally only have shared textbooks. Big Brother Mouse was set up in 2006 to both publish and distribute books as well as giving hands on experience to young people to learn new skills such as writing, editing and translating.

We have been supporting Parent Gym for the past three years, helping with their parenting classes run in areas of multiple deprivation. Our support has ranged from facilitating classes in various schools, to running both academies for new potential ParentGym coaches and also skills sessions for school staff to help with recruiting new parents.

Butterfly space is a volunteer community project based in Malawi, supporting a range of initiatives from teaching local children to environmental change programmes and the areas first radio station.
